2025 Undergraduate thesis project iOS Developer · Undergraduate Thesis
An iOS statistics-learning thesis project, with supporting Android, web, and AWS backend work and a previous App Store release.
React NativeExpoFirebaseNext.jsNode.jsExpress.jsAWS EC2
What was broken?
Statistics students needed a learning app that was easier to access than a desktop-only R workflow. The broader project evolved across web, backend, forum, Android, and iOS work.
How I fixed it
I developed the iOS application for my undergraduate thesis using React Native and Expo. I also worked on Android and web fixes, maintained the Node.js/Express backend on AWS EC2, and handled the App Store publication. The app connects statistics modules, R code practice, and discussions with Firebase-backed authentication and data.
What it can do
- iOS statistics-learning application
- Android and web maintenance
- Statistics modules and R code practice
- Discussion forum and Firebase-backed data
- AWS EC2 backend operations
- Previous App Store publication and UMUX evaluation
The stack that shipped it
React Native and Expo let the team move toward iOS and Android from one codebase. Firebase kept auth and learning data available across the web and mobile versions.
What changed
The thesis usability evaluation with 22 Statistics students produced an 88.26% UMUX score. The iOS app was previously published on the App Store, but is currently unavailable for download after the Apple Developer membership expired. The UMUX result measures usability, not model accuracy.
What I learned
This project taught me to balance product polish with academic evaluation: the app had to work well, but the research method also had to be clear.
